The hotel was a delight to stay in, the room was just perfect with a great view of the garden and a most wonderful bathroom. All the staff were very accommodating and with a bar on site, it made the short break. The prices were very reasonable and we were treated to some live music on the Friday night. I would highly recommend for a short stay.

Excellent hotel - very friendly, welcoming staff. Comfortable, sizeable room with all facilities you need. Very comfortable bed and despite room overlooking main room no outside noise. A great nights sleep. Highly recommend - we'll return without hesitation.

A great place to stay. Originally a house of the gentry. Fab bar with super staff. Room large. Bed a little soft for me … but other than that it was great. Superbly located in the lovely town of Leek.

The room was comfortable and clean ,however on our return at 9 the place was locked up and as a bar had been listed as part of the facilities we were disappointed by this .Again when we had a query at 830 AM the place was still locked up with no sign of the staff or breakfast. The only face to face we had was with one pleasant young lady when we arrived .We left at 9 and went for breakfast elsewhere. In summary we choose hotels for their personal service,security of knowing someone is around .It may be better in peak season but for us it was little more than an air b and b I'm afraid .

Thank you Sue for taking the time to review your stay at The Silk House. You must have just missed Sally as she does indeed close the bar at 9.00 if there aren't any customers and she had left at 9.15, had you been in before then she would have gladly served you. I agree that it is nice to have a certain amount of service so we decided that the main bar should be staffed from 16.00 until 21.00 Mondays to Thursdays and then until late on the weekends. Breakfast is provided but as it is prepared to order we ask that it is booked on arrival or at the time of booking so that the croissants, baguettes and pain au chocolate is warm from the oven at the requested time. I live in the former chapel in the gardens, so I am always around. I will however ask booking.com to make sure that our venue is not advertised as a hotel as I agree, people expect a certain level of service for a venue promoted as such and our offering is more a guest house and events venue with bar and we will notify guest of the bar opening hours.
