The Villa is a hidden gem, like a character in a novel or a film. The way it reveals itself to you as you climb the cobblestone streets of Molina is magical. The gardens, the views, the gentle architecture of the past. It does feel like you’re staying in a kind friend’s house, a friend who provides a delicious breakfast and always has a well stocked bar. Sylvia and Horatio made us so comfortable, and answered all our questions about the local area.

Tips for other travellers
The beauty of Molina is its distance from the more touristy parts of Lake Como. It has unbeatable views. We could have stayed there all the time and enjoyed the gardens and the terrace. We didn’t do that, of course! We walked to the bus and used the ferry. We also took advantage of a local driver, which is a fabulous alternative to hiring a car. We took a day to walk from the villa to Lemna and then Palanzo. It’s not too tricky and the final climb to the Chiesa della Madonna del Soldo is well worth the effort. You walk up hill past a vineyard and the stations of the cross, until the church and the most magnificent view of the lake rewards your curiosity.
