Beautiful. All the small, and big, touches made it perfect from the swan tap to the huge comfy bed. The breakfast hamper was delicious and had the right amount of everything. We loved Bear and the other chickens. Very friendly and caring hosts. A wonderful romantic place and the most relaxing stay. Thank you so much

The nearby town of Gainsborough has a lot of shops that close around 2 on a Wednesday but there are plenty of supermarkets to choose from.

Aww we are so glad you enjoyed your stay so much. Thank you for your all 5* review. We love those, it's impossible to be perfect for every stay, to be all things to all people. But we are giving it a good go. We do make mistakes (rarely I hope) but when we do, we hold our hands up and are upfront about it. If something isn't working, we'll phone and let you know there is an issue. Aww Bear is becoming part of Hawthorn Hideaway's folklore, she's so special. She struts around with her 2 babies, Who are bigger than any of the other chickens. Bear was so broody, she was desperate for babies. Just not enough to actually sit on her eggs for long enough. She have a break in the day, that was just a bit too long. So I cheated and swapped her eggs out last minute for some chicks that were hatching from an incubator. Bear and her babies usually hang around the coop, standing guard, looking out for pesky egg thieves (me mainly). She properly attacks, She'd go for my throat if she wasn't too big to get off the ground. She doesn't hurt though. I just pick her up and give her a big bear hug cuddle, which she likes. I think. It's love hate with Bear and I, if I'm not bringing food, I'm stealing babies. Gainsborough is a good mention, there are plenty of quaint little market town near us: Retford, Gainsborough, Bawtry - all have their own distinct charms and are within 15 minutes or so of Hawthorn Hideaway. Check out Heads Yard in Retford and Womack's in Bawtry needs a good amount of time to get around. You won't want to leave. If you like antiques, you definitely need to head to Hemswell antiques centre, it's a day trip and has interesting things to suit all budgets, and is around a 20 minute drive. Thank you for taking time out to review your stay. You don't have to, we offer nothing to our guests for writing reviews - so it's amazing that people just take out so much time after their stay to write and let other potential guests about how their stay went. We are so lucky to have such amazing guests - that do choose to share. Thank you so much.

our second stay at Hawthorn Hideaway. We came to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. We had a meal with wine paring and a couples massage which was amazing. Breakfast hamper is very good quality as is the bbq hamper which we had on our previous stay. Ronnie and Jo are excellent hosts and go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay nothing is too much trouble. We have booked again for valentines :-)

Thanks guys for the aking the time to leave a review and for booking with us again. Misterton is a great little village a 35 minutes walk from us along the scenic Chesterfield Canal. As well as the fish & chip shop and cafe, there is a village pub, a butchers, a Chinese take away, a kebab shop and a Co-op. It is lovely walk and great you met our resident swans Sid & Nancy, your video of your stay was lovely. Best wishes, Josephine & Ronnie x

Stayed at Sean Lodge and just wow, what an incredible experience. Such a beautiful idyllic location, the lodge was luxurious , no expense spared to make it homely and welcoming. The breakfast hamper was amazing, the lodge was absolutely immaculate and can tell a lot of love goes into the upkeep of the hideaway. The hottub was amazing we sat outside by the fire pit at night and listened to the wildlife and peace and quiet. Will definitely be returning.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and such a detailed one. It's great to hear you had such a lovely experience. One of our favourite sounds is the Owls at night, especially sat in the large garden day bed with a hot drink and large fluffy throw. We look forward to welcoming you again.Best wishes, Josephine & Ronnie
