Fantastic stay with the kids. Great tip about bringing bird seed as we saw an array different varieties and even a woodpecker. Would definitely recommend for a rural stay.

The Boat Inn and Spider on a bike in Aboyne were great for meals. Super local walks.

Had a lovely stay at your bothies which are very comfortable. My partner & me wanted to go somewhere to relax and recharge with our 2 dogs and your bothie was perfect.

We have stayed in the bothies before and loved it both times. I took my mum who loves to stay in a hotel but she thoroughly enjoyed the bothy and is now organising a trip to book them with my aunties. The area is fantastic and perfect for kids to have an adventure with being in the woods. Also a lovely area to walk if you have dogs, we walked round the area and through the woods every morning with our dog. Some suggestions I’d make would be a gate to keep dogs and young children on the decking, also a little set of steps up from the car to the bothy, the banking was a little steep and slidey at some parts but nothing we couldn’t manage up to our bothy. Also a toaster would be fab and some bbq tongs. None of these made our time there terrible in fact we had an excellent stay.

We went to the Lonach Highland Games, it was an amazing day out. The commercial hotel for dinner in Tarland was really good. We walked round burn o vat which is beautiful. Ballater is a great little town if you want to hire bikes you can cycle along the old rail line with lots to see. Balmoral castle is worth a visit if you enjoy walks then a walk up to the monuments of Prince Albert is fantastic. Also a day at dunnoter castle on the way to Aberdeen is great to visit.
