Very tasteful, genuinely dog-friendly accommodation in a gorgeously quiet spot of the Cowal peninsula. Top of the range beds and public room furniture. The attractive old building would benefit from some external maintenance and attention to water pressure issues but the current hotelier has only recently taken it on and is on the case. Our visit coincided with the absence of the hotel's highly rated cook but our simple needs were catered for perfectly well not least with a breakfast of greek yoghurt and spiced plums and excellent croissants. Andy (i/c the bar) was a font of info about the hamlet of Kilfinan despite being a fairly recent incomer from Kent. He invited us to participate (for a fee for the Community Hall's upkeep) in the solving of an intriguing murder mystery, through clues to be had from a perambulation (!) round the village including its fascinating church and its graveyard which date back to the 7th Century.

A beautiful place to stay if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Lovely, friendly owners who take great care to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We’ve visited many times over the years and will be back again soon for sure. Thank you Rosie and Ian for a perfect stay.

What a fantastic stay. Rosie was a genuine host! Kate made burgers for dinner that were delicious and came with crispy tasty fries. Perfect for our American pallet. The bar was cozy and relaxing as Andy poured us drinks and gave away free smiles all evening. I slept so darn well in the bed that I almost missed the breakfast we scheduled. Would love to go back again.
