The venue is fantastic! Tranquil (as we had it all to ourselves!) Everything that was promised on the Web site was there, including duck food (an absolute necessity, due to the feathered visitors!) Lovely open fire, great shelter for eating your home barbecued food, and so relaxing with no noise apart from nature. Probably the best 2 days away we've ever had in this country!!

Salisbury is a beautiful city about 10ish miles away and Winchester is an equally beautiful city ( about 10 miles in the opposite direction!) The local village pub is excellent, with good food and great beer. Stockbridge is the nearest village with lots of good eateries and a wide selection of pubs as well.

Friendly welcome in lovely, peaceful location. The Magic Rat with own island was a joy to stay in. All well thought out, attractive and comfortable. Enjoyed our duck visitors.

We mainly enjoyed staying where we were! (The convenience store/cafe just up the road was handy. Not far to go walking in the rain.
