Orkney is Nature at its essence. Windy nuances of silence in the quiet light. At Orkney Retreats, we felt pampered as if in mother earth womb, with care to each little detail. It is all set at best both from the practical standpoint and from the romantic. Including charming tea cups and a kitchen that seems just out of a fairy tale. To enjoy also fresh lobsters by Sanday’s gentle fisherman Douglas. Jackie’s energy and passion is the best and most organic way to “shake hands” with the island, together with a giant crab that greeted us just blown out of the ocean, once we were kindly picked up at the ferry. Deep sleeping of 10 hours, already dreaming to be back soon, to experience more and more Orkney Retreats and its merry dancers ! Grazie ✨Beatrice and son

Fantastic stay. Beautifully presented house, with lovely thoughtful touches. The beach is on the doorstep and is perfectly empty and silent. Will definitely use Orkney Retreats again. Our private tour round Boloquoy with Jackie was a highlight.

A fabulous stay at Kilnbarn -a cosy cottage perched on a coastal strip amongst farmland. Watching seals and the variety of seabirds swooping past the large picture window was a constant joy. Particularly enjoyed walking the beach and neighbouring Cata Sands.

Highly recommend 59 Degrees pizzas and a visit to the Heritage Centre a must. Historic Start Point Lighthouse is a short drive away and at night you can see its guiding light from Kilnbarn.
