Best location ever, right in the middle of Neolithic sites, that are easily walked to! You can see the Ring of Brodgar from your dining room window (kitchen, bedroom too)! Beautiful sunsets with the Ring of Brodgar highlighted!! Lots of extras including fresh flowers! This place had more than we imagined! Easy to reach any part of Orkney by car! We lloved it! Amazing mystical location! Shawn was a wonderful host!!

Too many things to do and see to say here!! If you love Neolithic sites and love to hike and see rugged sea coasts, this is the place! No bad weather, just bad clothing! Come prepared!!

Everything you could need was provided. Very clean. Excellent location near many of the top tourist attractions. Only saw one otter, at a distance one evening.

Lovely accommodation in idyllic location. Superbly placed for all historic sites. Warm, very clean and well supplied with all you need for self catering. Stunning scenery over the Loch and towards the Ring of Brodgar. Quick and easy drive from Kirkwall and Stromness ferry terminals.

Tips for other travellers

Pre book Maeshowe as it gets booked up quickly. If you don't manage this, it's worth going to the visitor's centre at Stenness by 9:30 am to see if they have cancellations or extra tours. Walk up to the Ring of Brodgar early morning or in the evening before the tour buses arrive. You can almost have it to yourself. The walks on Yesnaby cliffs and around Birsay are stunning. The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness is well worth a visit. Great permanent and temporary exhibitions. Hamnavoe restaurant in Stromness is good. Moderately expensive but a real treat for ambiance and food quality.
