Nothing to dislike at Maple House. Linda has thought of everything little thing to make our stay comfortable and unforgettable. Her organisation is marvellous. The breakfast is so well done and the slices of cake are a real unexpected tasty treat. Well done Linda and missing Maple House and Hay. Andrea and family

I had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at Maple House during this year's Hay Festival. Everything was wonderful -- from Linda's kind and warm welcome to the lovely Elan Valley room and ensuite, which were pristine and a generous size for a single traveler. Linda provided a lot of helpful local knowledge and suggestions. The breakfasts are a real treat, served in picnic baskets outside your door. Unpacking the baskets is great fun prior to the delicious breakfast. Maple House is perfectly located for Hay Festival and a lovely oasis of quiet calm to retreat to and to enjoy the afternoon cake of the day! The B&B is very close to one of the Festival's venues, St. Mary's Church, and around 15 to 20 minutes walk from the main site. I'd heartily recommend a stay at Maple House for Hay Festival or at any time of the year! A big thank you to Linda for a brilliant stay!

I'd recommend Red Indigo in Hay as a great place to grab a late dinner -- they close at 11 p.m. and their Indian food is very tasty. My favourite shop in Hay is Satori, a wonderful jewellery and crystals and incense store. I'm also a big fan of The Hourglass Collection with its fossils, crystals, and jewellery. A tip for Hay Festival goers, check out the drinks and cakes available at most events at St. Mary's Church, they're great and a bunch cheaper than at the Festival site:-)

Thank you so much for your detailed review, am so pleased you enjoyed the festival and had time to explore Hay too. I would also recommend checking out the pop ups in the centre of town during this time and the 'Fair on the Square' with live music, food and artisan stalls :) It was lovely to meet you and would welcome you back to stay here at Maple House again in the future.

I would recommend a visit to the Warren, lovely little area by the river. Richard Booth's bookshop was amazing.
