A beautiful little cottage! This was our second time staying here for a week, and both the size and the location are perfect for us. Everything was great with the cottage. Cozy and comfortable and convenient. I rate it only a '4' in facilities merely because of the lack of coffee maker (press only..good coffee but messy clean-up :( ).

The Stromness Museum was a nice surprise, very well organized and nicely displayed, with an enormous and interesting collection. Same for the Scapa Museum in Lyness--this would be very well worth a few hours, although unfortunately we only allowed 20 minutes before the ferry.

Great accommodation in a lovely location, very handy for touring the whole island & islands. Everything you need is in the cottage. Only 2 minor issues, hoover keeps cutting out and when you fill the iron with water it was going straight through. This was our 2nd visit, and would not hesitate to recommend.

We would definitely recommend eating at Sheila’s Fleet Kirk cafe near Tankerness. We did lots of walking, which is a good way to see wildlife & fauna. We also visited Hoy which is brilliant. Orkney Museum in Kirkwall, also good to visit.

The cottage is ideally situated close to Stromness and its shops and facilities yet away from the narrow streets of the town to offer adjacent parking. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Good Wi-Fi connection, a kitchen with all that we needed in terms of appliances and utensils, excellent wet room, and modern washer and drier. Beds were comfortable and the heating options kept the chill off in the sometimes quite chilly evenings. The only improvements we could suggest were clearer information about what to do with rubbish and recycling; and the TV was rather small especially if subtitles or text was included in the programme. Neither detracted from an excellent experience and wonderful, memorable holiday.

Nowhere on Mainland is far away and we visited lots of prehistoric sites nearby - Skara Brae and Ring of Brodgar are must-sees. Kirkwall has a range of shops and supermarkets- though gets very crowded when the (frequent) cruise ships dock there. We love walking and particularly enjoyed walks on Wideford Hill and its cairn, round Hoxa Head from St Margaret Hope and the cliff path from Lesnaby. Can also recommend day trips to Rousay and Shapinsay. If going to Hoy book the ferry early as berths for cars sell out fast.

Perfect base to explore Orkney, the pond behind the cottage is an extra delight for bird watchers, the kitchen is very well equipped, the cottage cosy and very clean. Very close to Stromness but with peace, quiet and fields all around. Highly recommended!
