A wonderful 3 night stay for two couples. The cottage was great, very clean and comfortable. Steve and Fiona were very welcoming and shared some great recommendations. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Lovely stay, the room was very relaxing to be in and you were very hospitable. The only downside was the noise of the aircon or fan from the pub. I know you can't do anything about that!

What a great B&B - a central location in the centre of Colyton - "the most rebellious town in Devon" during the 1685 Monmouth uprising seeking to oust Catholic James II. Right opposite the Kingfisher Pub for evening meals. And the highlight, of course, being host Steve's eclectic vinyl record collection - we listened to Pink Floyd's Meddle over an excellent cooked breakfast. All in all a great night's stay while we were walking the East Devon Way.

Tips for other travellers
Take a walk around this compact village with plenty to see of historical interest and dominated by the unusual octagonal lantern tower of St Andrew’s Church. Its design was likely inspired by the Bruges Town Hall in Belgium, a style familiar to Colyton's wealthy medieval wool merchants.

Highly recommended. 16C listed building, personal and friendly service, great location and facilities, comfortable beds, hearty breakfast, added benefit of a ground floor guest room with a well stocked book and record collection! How could it be improved? Not easily but if really picky then the provision of a mini fridge in each bedroom with a small jug of fresh milk (changed daily if required) would further set you apart from the rest!

Limited parking adjacent to the property, but plenty of free, unrestricted on street parking close by (we parked opposite the church about 150m away). Sleep spoilt by noisy seagulls for a while plus church bell chimes every 15 mins, but got used to it eventually. Had the window open due to the hot spell of weather. These would not put us off returning again. Once you’ve finished breakfast you will not want to eat again for several hours! Colyton is a lovely village/town to walk around with much history and character.
