Tips for other travellers

Be prepared for 4 seasons in one day. Get out and about in this beautiful area knowing that you are returning to a warm, cosy house with everything you need. Loved the old desk bureau, the large book of World maps and the choice of books. Wonderful.

Tips for other travellers

The coastal walk from Traigh to camusdarroch is lovely with lots of quiet beautiful beaches to swim at along the way. Arisaig village has a great pub with live music on Friday night and Sunday afternoon serving good food too. Make sure you book in advance. The marina cafe has a lovley gist shops and serve a great toastie. Sound bites staff are a good laugh and they make wonderful cakes. The bake house in Mallaig is a must but get there early. They don’t open every day. Boat trip to knoydart for lunch is worth it. On a wet or windy day a walk in larachmore gardens is pretty sheltered and always a joy. The dog will love it too The crab and creel in Mallaig serves a big plate film of scallops and chips so simple but so good. Always a great walk along loch Morar and a nice cold dip if you fancy swimming in scotlands deepest loch. Boat trips from Mallaig and arisaig to the Isle of Eigg and rum and other small isles or a day trip to Skye- book ahead in summer if taking the car. Drive to elgol in Skye book the Bella Jane for a glorious trip to loch coruisk sitting under the black cuillin ridge. Then Re book the sheilling for next year to fit it all in.

Restaurants and cafes in Arisaig. Mallaig can get quite busy when the Jacobite express is in.

Many thanks Alison and Ewan for a lovely stay at The Sheiling. The property was easy to find, in a great location, with lovely sea views. The Sheiling was very comfortable and had all of the amenities which we required for our visit. The property is a great base to explore the Highlands and Islands and local restaurants and grocery shops are close by in Arisaig and Mallaig.

The highlight of our trip was a day trip to the small Isle of Eigg from Arisaig Marina. We hired electric bikes from Owain at Eigg Adventures & had a wonderful day exploring the island.
