We loved it. The house is comfortable and brilliantly situated. Wonderful views with amazing sunsets and so very peaceful. There is so much to do and see on the doorstep. The kitchen has everything you need - truly home from home.

We did eat out a few times. The Crofters Rest in Arisaig did good food, but we were too tired to stay for the music - another time! We took on board the recommendations from the Visitors guide and ate at The Tea Garden in Mallaig, The Old Forge at Inverie and The Morar Hotel. All the food was good and the service friendly. Cow bay was our go-to beach for paddle boarding. Great for getting our practice and confidence up. Traigh and Camusdarach do get so very busy for parking, but we found going for an early low tide walk along Camusdarach (8.30) that we were almost the only people on those beaches. Very special, especially in the brilliant weather that we were lucky to have.

We were so impressed with the house and all the amenities provided. Everything we wanted was available including toiletries, coffee, tea, condiments, toilet rolls etc. All we needed to bring was a toothbrush, toothpaste and clothes! The house was spotless, the linens fresh, and plenty of towels. The location was fantastic, with wonderful walks to local beaches. A great place to stay.

We did the wildlife cruise, a day out at Inverie and a trip to Muck. I would recommend doing one of the trips rather than the wildlife cruise because you see dolphins and whales all around. When we went to Inverie, from Mallaig, the return ferry is at 4pm however, when we went into the office to book, they gave us the option to leave at 3pm and cruise up to Tabert, and then stay on the ferry at Inverie to return to Mallaig.

Excellent location and well equipped comfortable and cosy cottage Ideal enclosed garden for our little dog It would be helpful to have a handrail on the steps at the front door and also a permanent handrail for use in the shower (we didn’t feel confident that the suction one was secure) kitchen was very well equipped and we appreciated the supply of dishwasher, washing machine tablets along with supply of cling film and other comestibles-only thing missing was a workable whisk The folder with instructions and local information was very welcome as was the Welcome Pack. Unfortunately we missed the recycling bin collection as the rota on the wall was for last year and caused confusion

We have holidayed in this area many times and have our favourite places to go: beach at Camusdarach, walk at Loch Morar, trips to the Small Islands-we visited Canna for the first time and found it to be a charming place with an excellent cafe. The Old Library is to be recommended for dinner and the Cornerstone Cafe was perfect for coffee and snacks-friendly helpful staff, great food and a lovely view. We also enjoyed visiting Ardnamurchan Lighthouse although the drive is not for the faint hearted. Another highlight was the takeaway Thai food from Sunset Morar which is excellent but needs to be booked in advance due to the popularity. Excellent smoked salmon, venison and other fine food etc from the Smokehouse at Glenuig Ardshealach. Useful to stock up with quality convenience foods at M&S in Fort. William

Thank you for your positive review! You're absolutely right about a grab bar in the bathroom. We did look at getting one fitted but it made the space in the shower rather small. However, after your comment, I'll look into this again and see how we can make it work. We really appreciate the feedback. We hope to see you back at The Sheiling one day! Update - a fixed grab bar has now been installed in the shower.
