We loved the Stable Bothy. It’s the perfect place to come home to after a day of hiking. The bothy was furnished with great care and has all the facilities one needs. Not unimportant: it was super clean.

If you are looking for the perfect place to stay, then look no further. A magical holiday based around this beautiful accommodation & area. Ideally situated for exploring North, South, East & West. If it's views you want to wake up to, the Bothy is the place...simply awesome.

The local walk around Rogart & immediately from the Bothy are a must. Very peaceful, relaxing & scenic. The walk up to the big Loch is well worth the effort. Seeing the local wild goats was lovely. So much to see in every direction. A week was not long enough. We will be back...

Iona is a fantastic host and a lovely person. Response to our booking was quick and her email contained lots of useful information. The Stable Bothy is exactly as described and is in first class condition both structurally and decoratively. The property is equipped with everything that we needed and more beside. The level of comfort is extraordinary from quality of bed linen to comfortable sofa and everything in between. The goodies provided were plentiful and, like everything else, of good quality.

Phone signal for us was 4 bars. Better than at home! Wi-Fi signal likewise. If you have Netflix, you're in business! The information provided is exceptional, Read it and decide what's right for you. There is an extensive selection of reading material including OS maps for the whole of the N Highlands and lots of walking guiding guides. The Heritage Trail in Dornoch is well worth a walk and The Museum at Strathaven is worth a visit, particularly if you want to learn about The Clearances. Follow this up with a visit to Dunrobin Castle and you may find yourself somewhat conflicted!

The Stable Bothy is an absolute gem — a gorgeous, cosy cottage that’s perfect for switching off and unwinding. It’s beautifully kept, warm, and welcoming, with everything you need for a peaceful break. The setting is quiet and relaxing, and the whole place has a lovely, calm atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in straight away. A perfect spot for recharging and enjoying some proper downtime.

Ullapool is an easy, beautiful drive from the Bothy -sweeping views, quiet stretches, and plenty of photo stops along the way. Once there, The Seafood Shack is absolutely worth it for fresh, local dishes served outdoors. A lovely place for coffee or lunch, the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre is ideal. The short walk to the falls is worth it, and if you’re lucky you might spot salmon leaping. For a rewarding walk, the climb to the Fyrish Monument is a standout. It’s a steady ascent, but the panoramic views over the Cromarty Firth are spectacular and make the effort worthwhile.
