We had such a lovely stay at The Stable Bothy. It was perfect for us — cosy, peaceful, with beautiful views and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Iona was very responsive and friendly, and made us feel truly welcome.

Tips for other travellers

We really enjoyed doing a local walk straight from the Bothy — the scenery is beautiful. We visited Lairg and had lunch at The Pier, which was great, and also did a long walk along Dornoch Beach, stopping at a local café for refreshments. There’s plenty to explore in the area. As we visited in February, some places were closed for the season, but we will definitely be back to explore the area more.

It would be an understatement to say we enjoyed our stay at the Bothy. We both found it a heavenly tranquil stay in a stunning location. The Stable Bothy was fitted out to an exceptionally high standard, particularly the kitchen which had everything you may need! The lounge was cosy and warm and, as we visited at Christmas, was also kindly decked out with a festively lit tree! The views were absorbing and we loved our trips out to the local area, feeling grateful to return to our haven at the end of the day. We were even lucky enough to have a healthy amount of snow during our trip - winter wonderland indeed!

We enjoyed trips out to Falls of Shin and its restaurant; Loch Inver (and the pie shop!); Dornoch; Tain; a drive across from coast to coast; taking in parts of the NC500; Ardvreck Castle; Stoer Lighthouse and many car trips just taking it all in.
