I simply can not rate this beautiful farm B&B and the hosts high enough. I would say they went above and beyond for my stay. A solo female traveller I felt completely safe and at ease. I felt so at home, and you wake surrounded by mountains and a gorgeous breakfast. Walks can start from near the farm, it’s perfect. I would love to go back. Thank you for being so kind x

A path from near the farm joins the Wasdale route, that can save you £10 on parking. So many walks are possible over the gorgeous mountains from the farm that you could have so many adventures without driving anywhere else. The local pub does good food. On the way you go past a huge lake, it’s a beautiful stop. The hosts give very good instructions, but on google maps I put in the postcode and Wasdale head, it bought me straight to the farm!

Great last minute booking. Left a message to enquire about a late check in, was called back promptly and had all details forwarded to me. Very detailed directions, with a great late check-in procedure. The room was comfortable, had a nice sleep and shower before breakfast. In the morning Georgina welcomed me to the dining area, for a very tasty breakfast, cooked to my liking. A very pleasant stay. Would definitely stay again. Very reasonable rates, with a very close proximity to Wasdale Head.

Very close to the Wasdale Head Inn , which is a short walk away. Enjoyed the spectacular views and was very lucky to observe the fighter jets and other military aircraft flying in formation a few hundred metres above the lake!

Always great to return to Burnthwaite like saying hello to old friends. Lovely welcome by Georgina and Andrew plus their lovely sheep and lambs, particularly number 35!! Breakfasts were beautifully served with endless cups of coffee and tea. Food totally delicious and our room so comfy and warm sleep came well!! Thank you both.

Location is paramount when walking in these hills and fells Burnthwaite is the best location up the valley on the path heading up the high passes to reach the ranges and beyond. Wasdale Head is good for typical pub grub just what you need after climbing the fells. If the weather is bad head to Muncastle Gardens and Bird of Prey centre, Ravenglass idyllic village full of good pubs and cafes and of course Ratty which takes you up Eskdake and you can walk back over Muncastle Fell back to the coast. Lots to see as well as climbing the fells on good days.

Georgina and her assistant do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfasts are excellent. The beds are comfortable and give you a good night's sleep. The price of the accommodation gives value that could not be matched elsewhere.

Get out and walk. This is the most dramatic part of Lakeland.
