Dunster Castle is short walk away. The Stags Head is next door and serves good evening meals Wednesday to Sunday.

The accommodation is located in the middle of a beautiful, mediaeval village. The owners were very hospitable and accommodating, the cake and drink on arrival being much appreciated. Our room was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. There was a communal fridge with fresh milk and water for each room too. Our breakfasts were delicious, served in a room overlooking the beautiful main road.

The National Trust mill and Castle, set right in the village, are very interesting and well worth a visit. The quaint local train station and beautiful beach are a short walk away (both in the same direction). It is well worth taking a ride on the train. We walked along the beach to Minehead (40 minutes) and then took the steam train from there to Watchet (£14 single). Then we caught the bus back to Dunster. The buses are frequent and prompt. If you wish to eat in Dunster, it is essential to book, especially over the weekend.

So many things to do from this base, whether you want to relax or keep really busy! Just ask the lovely hosts, Jane & James, they’re extremely knowledgeable about the local area.
