The whole stay was wonderful and it was great to be back in the same room after our one night excursion. Hosts and all staff so friendly and helpful. Food was all delicious. The garden was beautiful for a quiet read.

Hello and many thanks for you comments. It seems as though you have enjoyed your stay. We note the point about the soap holder. We use hook-over baskets to avoid too many holes drilled into the tile work, but they can disappear over time ( :-). Better get some replacements on to the shopping list, methinks. We hope we'll be seeing you again some time.

Hello John. We are delighted that you have enjoyed your stay and thank you for your helpful observations. I appreciate that our requirement to pre-order dinner is a little unusual, but with most hotels of our size now no longer offering dinner at all, we had to find a way of making it work, financially. The pre-ordering system is the only way we can avoid having to charge around 50% more for dinner, as ordering at table requires more staff and wastes more food in a smaller operation, unable to utilise numbers to better estimate demand. That is logistically risky for a business of our size. Additionally, pre-ordering has helped us drive down food waste substantially. We appreciate your positive comments and hope to see you again. Overall an enjoyable stay. Room was comfortable and clean as were all public areas. No welcome on arrival. Just a "I'll show you to your room". Otherwise bar and dining service was very good. The older gentleman who checked us out was excellent and a great character. Breakfast and Main course dinner were excellent, but the Apple Crumble and custard was not nice at all. But I'm sure we will be back.

Hello Brian. We are very pleased to see that you have enjoyed your stay, but a were a little concerned to note that you were not greeted well upon arrival. This is partly my fault as I am mostly present to check guests in, or a trained member of staff takes over. Sometimes, I have to pop away on a quick errand and it looks as though the timing of your arrival coincided with such an occasion. If you arrived a little earlier than our published check in time, then there is a chance you were greeted by a staff member that doesn't usually work at the guest interface. They will have tried to help and not come over particularly well. These are the joys of running a small business. Nowadays, to pay staff well, and give them decent rest, (which hasn't always been the way in this industry), the cloth has to be cut a little finely in terms of total cover. I apologise, also, about your dessert. We were using an agency chef to give hubby a bit of a rest from the kitchen. Never the best option, but bless him, we all need some down time. I'm delighted, however, that you feel that you will come back again.
