I had the most amazing time staying at this hostel! The dorm felt cosy and comfortable, the lounge/dining area was lovely, food was delicious and everything was clean. Antony, Andy and Charlie couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful and their local area knowledge helped me make the most of my stay. I was a little nervous going away on my own for the first time but I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door and had a brilliant 3 days of walking. Can’t wait to come back!

Tips for other travellers

If you come by car it is beneficial to be a National Trust member as the car park is free.

The only reason I scored down facilities (for a change) is that Room 11 big window (left frame) - the top right hand corner of the window didn't close completely and so there was a constant small stream of colder air into the room. The heating didn't really warm the room up at all consequently. It wasn't that cold but enough. Worth looking at in your winter period as it didn't respond to opening and shutting the window a few times.

A wonderful hostel! Friendly, very clean, peaceful and it is in a fantastic location. The self catering kitchen is a good size and has everything you need. We had a lovely stay, thankyou!

Tips for other travellers

This hostel is excellent and in a perfect location for walking in the Langdales. A good bus service too going up and down to Dungeon ghyll and Ambleside. Also there is very good WiFi should you need it.
