"Very close to lovely scenery and walks, Alton towers, peak wildlife park and the height of Abraham. Must visit Hartington cheese shop."

"A wet February evening - just right for a cosy pub with fire, good beer and just enough chairs to squeeze in. Fortunately for me the huge tv screen was showing six nations rugby. Living the dream!
Good choice of meals in the restaurant at reasonable price.
Liver was very good, Lamb shank was good.
Room was large and comfortable after we switched the electric heater on. Bathroom good but nowhere to put soap etc in shower (minor fault)
Full English breakfast excellent.
Staff friendly and helpful.
NB. This pub welcomes dogs and there were 3 or 4 there so if you’re allergic beware."

Tip:
"Lovely countryside and the start of the ‘Manifold way’ is about half a mile down the road. Nice easy walk/ ride towards Waterhouses.
Tisssington trail in other direction, through Hartington."

"A very welcoming pub, clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee in the room and the bed was super comfortable, I slept very well!! Excellent food on offer for dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff, highly recommended!!"

Tip:
"There is good walking nearby, I stayed on the road due to not having walking boots but the scenery is amazing and I saw at least one footpath heading off across the fields.

Note that evening food service ends reasonably early but that is clear on the website and advised at check in. Not a problem if you are aware..."
