The kingfisher narrow boat provided quirky accommodation that was cosy and welcoming. I would highly recommend Hawthorn Hideaway and would definitely like to stay there again. "

Tip:
"The information provided by Hawthorn Hideaway tells you about a pub with a deli attached 1.5 miles away. However the deli closed some time ago and the pub was very quiet.
Would highly recommend the near by butchers for fresh and delicious produce. "

Thanks Graham, we've updated our guide, it's a bit crazy we have lost so many local pubs and cafes just in the last month or so. Luckily there are still so many great places to dine in the area. Apologies that our information wasn't updated for your stay. You are right about Wayne's we are so lucky to have him right in the village, sort of butcher we would travel miles looking fo. Also in the village there is a really good fish and chip shop, that operates as a cafe also. There is a pop up cake and sweet shop at weekends, a large co-op for last minute shopping items, a great kebab and pizza shop and a Chinese take away, the Chinese take away food quality is really good but they only take cash and don't deliver. Thanks for the amazing review Graham and for taking the time out to write about your stay. i know everyone has really busy lives, so much to fit in, so honestly we really appreciate the feedback. We are always amazed at the number of guests that take the time out to write about their experience at Hawthorn Hideaway. Our reviews are what make us stand out from the crowd. They are all genuine and we publish all of our reviews good and bad. Thanks for mentioning the breakfast hamper, they are breakfast hampers but we have a few extra little goodies in them. There's enough food to last a couple of days worth of breakfast. We provide a selection of tea, coffee and some hot chocolate. These are just samples really and not enough to last you for your whole stay. It's just to get you started when you arrive until you can get to the proper shops.Thank you for the kind recommendation, word of mouth is the best for of advertising we get. We have so many new guests booking because their friends or family have been and have given them a very enthusiastic and positive review of HH. We should probably start some sort of reward programme, but we also need to be careful not to break any Tripadvisor or Google laws. We'll have a look at this. Graham, you and your partner would be very welcome back to Hawthorn Hideaway and we'll hopefully see you here again one day. After a lot of research from myself, I decided upon going to Ronnie and Josephine‘s Hawthorn Hideaway. It appear to have everything online that we wanted for our honeymoon.
Really glad that we chose to go there, it was magical relaxing everything that we expected and more.
As a couples retreat, you couldn’t do better.

Nothing was too much trouble a phone call and whatever issue it was, was sorted straight away.
I.e ….I didn’t know how to work the TV remote. Ronnie was straight down after I rang him to show me how it worked.

Would highly recommend going there
PS, I loved the chickens

Hot tub was great had various jets to relax different body parts and the bed was comfy. The cabin had excellent facilities, finished to high standard with a powerful walk in shower. The forest is all light up at night looks amazing and not too many flying bugs around well chilling on the decking, it was perfect. Would definitely return, thank you"

Tip:
"Whether you want to stay in one of their lodges under the trees or stay on a barge (static or cruising) you can utilize the wonderful facilities onsite such as a Sauna / Steam room and hot tub. The whole process is fully automated making it very easy to reserve private sauna / steam room time. There is a lodge with inside BBQ area and you can order many extras such as various hampers for breakfast / BBQ`s, local produce is used ensuring top quality. There are also yoga and massage sessions, you just have to choose and tailor make your own relaxing retreat.
We took Kingfisher out (57ft narrow boat), this was our first time but we had super instruction from Craig. We did the first lock together and we were on our way. The chesterfield canal really is breath taking, its was one of the most relaxing times we have had with an added adrenaline of piloting your own live a bord boat.
What an experience, many thanks Ronnie & Jo, was great chatting with you too, top family!"

"Absolutely beautiful place! We wouldn’t have changed anything from our stay it’s so peaceful and relaxing. The lodge was absolutely spotless with everything you need for your stay. We both enjoyed just being able to just relax as a couple and spend quality time together for the weekend we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings surrounded by the beautiful lights that just topped it off. The breakfast hamper was superb and delicious. Me and my partner enjoyed relaxing outside playing some board games and really enjoyed the massage we both feel refreshed and can not wait to return. Both hosts are amazing from the get go and Ronnie checking in to make sure all was okay on arrival. I would definitely recommend this place to just unwind and refresh. Thank you both x "
