"I spent 5 nights in the Stables with my son and three grandsons with an age range from 13 to 67 years, primarily for a walking holiday. I have visited Castleton a few times over the years and looking at the location of Goosehill knew it would be a good place to stay. It is immediately on the edge of the village and a side gate gives direct access to the village and all its facilities. There are no worries about travelling into the village and trying to park a car which has very restricted parking.
The accommodation itself was excellent, plenty of car parking, we had two cars between us. The accommodation is modern, clean and has all the facilities you could want such as washing machine, dishwasher and good Wi-Fi. One really nice thing about the accommodation is there was plenty of crockery and cutlery, not the usual six of everything because the accommodation is for six people. That save on washing up every five minutes, a really nice touch.
The beds were super comfortable, so often we’ve been to lovely accommodation only to find the mattresses are cheap and uncomfortable, not here though, we all slept really well.
Castleton serves as a good base for visiting the High Peaks area, being centrally located. It’s also a good location for walkers, we were able to walk from our front door into the hills, there are numerous footpaths in the area meaning the need to walk beside roads is negligible.
Overall we were very happy with our stay at Goosehill and it would be top of our list for a return visit.
Helen is a lovely welcoming lady who we had chats with, I’m sure John would be the same but we didn’t have occasion to cross paths."
